The Tool Room Machinist will work with stainless steel and other materials to create custom products used in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining and be proficient in operating manual lathes and machining centers. This role involves producing low-volume, precision components.
Tool Room Machinist Key Responsibilities:
- Machining & Manufacturing: Operate manual lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers
- Precision & Quality Control: Perform precise measurements and inspections on all finished parts.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to understand part dimensions, tolerances, and materials.
- Tool Setup & Maintenance: Set up tooling, fixtures, and machine programs. Regularly maintain tools, equipment, and machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to ensure the timely completion of projects and address any challenges that arise during production.
Tool Room Machinist Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a machinist in a tool room or manufacturing environment, particularly with stainless steel or other metals.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of manual machining techniques, including operating lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers.
- Blueprint Reading: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD designs.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards and quality control measures, especially in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), when necessary.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and report issues or updates.
- Certification: Certification from a recognized trade school or apprenticeship program is a plus.
- Experience in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing PREFERRED: Prior experience working in a regulated environment or producing components for the pharmaceutical or medical device industries.
- Additional Skills: Familiarity with CAD/CAM software or advanced CNC operations
