The Cost Estimator will receive inputs from customers or vendors in the form of drawings, models, etc. and estimates the critical processes/cycle times needed to manufacture the part.
Cost Estimator Job Description:
- Collect and validate all relevant Request for Quote (RFQ) details
- Review RFQ and part tolerances
- Contact customer where information is missing or unclear
- Initiate RFQ’s in Micro Estimating software
- Manage speeds & feeds used within Micro Estimating
- Publish open quote lists and ensure all quotes are assigned in a timely manner and moving to on-time completion
- Communicate with Purchasing team to seek outside vendor quotations when needed
- Participate in customer discussions on manufacturability or cost reduction
- Determine the operations, their order, and the cycle times required to complete the part as required using Micro Estimating software
- Populate Sales Price Calculation form for each Request for Quote
- Apply appropriate gauging, fixtures, and tooling, based on print tolerances and process
Cost Estimator Job Requirements:
- BA or BS degree in a relevant field, or 10 years of direct experience in machine cycle time estimation & methods
- Excellent understanding of GD&T
- Experience using estimating software, Micro Estimating is preferred
- Experience with 3D viewing software
- Strong understanding of data management inputs for estimating software
- Strong understanding of global manufacturing; machining experience is required
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Strong project management & organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to work within deadlines
