Under the direction of the Materials Manager the Buyer will assist in meeting the procurement needs of the company and in the development and continual improvement of supplier relationships.
Manufacturing Buyer Duties and Responsibilities:
- Initiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services and/or special tools.
- Manages obsolete items for return or inventory addition.
- Analyzes requisitions for completeness, clarity, lead-time required and commodity consolidation potential.
- Ensures delivery schedules are met. Works to improve supplier lead-times.
- Analyze supplier cost/lead time history; actively seek improvements; research and recommend alternate suppliers.
- Coordinates with engineering to inspect sample products.
- Expediting open orders to meet changing demands in Production.
- Perform general clerical duties as assigned.
Manufacturing Buyer Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year College desired; Associate Degree preferred; High School Graduate or GED required and two years of related experience and/or training.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced knowledge in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) and technology driven communications.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Convert units of measure, compute rate, ratio and percentages.
